2017 WA Beach Ultimate Championships

The Annual WA Beach Ultimate State Championships are here for a second year and in 2017 will be hosted by Kaos Ultimate Club.
The successful bid to host the event came from Kaos Ultimate Club after WA Ultimate advertised for an event host.

The event will be held at City Beach on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th December.

Where: South City Beach, City Beach
When: Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th December (minimum team registrations to hold a two day event are 12 teams)
Time: 9:00am til 1:00pm 
Format: Mixed Gender, 5-a-side
Cost: $50pp* (includes, beach hire, fruit, insurance)

*If team registrations are below 12 the event will be a one day event and will cost $30

This is a state championship event as and as such standard expectations apply, each team will need to

  • Appoint a Spirit Captain
  • Meet minimum rules accreditation requirements

Rules Accreditation

For the WA Beach Ultimate Championships 2016 all players on your roster MUST be STANDARD rules accredited and a minimum of 4 MUST have the advanced accreditation (this number must include your Captain).

Players can register to login at: http://rules.wfdf.org/register/ 
Once you are sure that all players have a valid Basic Accreditation for when the championships start, and at least 4 have the Advanced Accreditation. If you already have current valid accreditation then you are not required to take the test again simply provide your accreditation number when requested from your captain.

Appoint a Spirit Captain

The Spirit Captain role is separate from the role of Team Captain or Team Manager and must be registered by December 14th.
About the Spirit Captain:

  • The tasks of the Spirit Captain are only undertaken when they are OFF THE FIELD
  • The Spirit Captain should ensure they access to a copy of the current WFDF and tournament specific rules with them on the side line
  • Coordinate the discussion and collection of the Spirit score for the opposing team following each match
  • Be the point of contact for your team for all matters relating to Spirit of the Game
  • They may be required to discuss the level of spirit in the game with the opposing teams Spirit Captain and then share Spirit Scores with them (if requested)
  • The Spirit Captain may call a Spirit Timeout
  • They should have an excellent knowledge of the current rule set, and also a good understanding of its application (they should hold the  WFDF Rules Advanced Accredited status)
  • They do not hold the position of Team Captain or Team Manager
  • They should be a senior player within the team, such that all other players will respect and listen to them if needed
  • They should be able to maintain a clear, calm, objective view of the game
  • They should be willing and able to approach opposing Spirit Captains and their own players, and communicate clearly and respectfully in a pressure situation.
