West Australian Clubs

Clubs operate within Western Australia for different purposes and have different target audiences. This page is offers you a little more information about the clubs in WA, who they are and how to get in contact with them.

New to Ultimate? Clubs are full of experienced coaches and players are always on hand at club sessions to help improve your technique and explain the concepts of the game. Find location that suits you then contact a club to get involved today!

 

Many clubs who operate compete at the Australian Ultimate Championships (AUC) also known as "Nationals", this includes the top 12 Open and Womens club teams. There is also a Divsion Two Australian Ultimate Championships (AUCDII). These events are held Annually in April.

There is also an Australian Mixed Ultimate Championships (AMUC) also known as "Mixed Nationals", this includes the top 16 Mixed gender club teams. There is also a Divsion Two Australian Mixed Ultimate Championships (AMUCDII). These events are held Annually in October.

What is the difference between a Club and a Team? A club has a structured committee, a constitution, a membership base and records, and are affiliated with the WAFDA. There are many benefits to being an affiliated club, find out about them here.

 

Metropolitan

Curtin Ultimate Club

Location: Curtin University - Bentley Campus

Club Type: University club - Men's, Women's and Mixed options available.

Competition/s: Australian University Games, Various Perth Tournaments, Curtin Social Sports League.

About the Club: As one of WA's university based Ultimate Clubs, Curtin Ultimate has continued to expand since its establishment. Whilst the club is focused predominantly on current Curtin students, our social league and some representative teams are open to past alumni and the general community.

 

Social League

Curtin runs a social mixed gender league on open to the whole community, run through Curtin Social Sports.

 

Australian University Games Teams (AUGs) - Open & Womens

Curtin Ultimate sends representative teams to the Australian University Games (AUG). AUGs is nationwide competition between universities. Only enrolled students may participate. Tryouts and training for these teams begin in June in the lead up to the competition in September.

Disc Graceful Ultimate Club

Peak Competition/s: Phoenix Has Risen, Australian Mixed Ultimate Championships

About the Club: Disc Graceful is a mixed club that welcomes players of all skill levels and focuses on have a culture of inclusiveness and embodying the spirit of the game. Disc Graceful started in 2014 playing social ultimate, and has since expanded to play in Phoenix has Risen and division 2 of the Australian Mixed Ultimate Championships.

FEAR Ultimate Disc Club

Location: Nedlands, WA 6009 & Medina, WA 6167

Club Type: Mixed Club

Peak Competition/s: Various Perth Tournaments, Perth Ultimate League, Masters Division at the World Ultimate Club Championships, Open and mixed Australian Nationals.

About the Club: The FEAR Ultimate Disc club has been around informally in one form or another since around 1997, however in 2006 it became an ‘official’ registered club entity in order to enter a Master’s team into the 2006 World Ultimate Club Championships hosted in Perth. We are mainly a social club open to new players of all ages.

KAOS Ultimate Club

Location: Vary between Nedlands, Yokine, City Beach and Lake Monger.

Club Type: Women’s club

Peak Competition/s: Australian Ultimate Championships Division one and two, Western Regional Ultimate Championships, Various Perth Tournaments.

About the Club: Kaos Ultimate is Western Australia’s longest running women's ultimate club. Our colourful history spans from 2008 until present and includes accolades of silver and bronze Australian National Championship medals, international tournaments, national representative players and coaches, and also the country’s best tea parties! We are committed to providing development and tournament opportunities to female players in Western Australia at both an elite and social level.

Murdoch Ultimate Club

Location: Murdoch University - Murdoch Campus

Club Type: University club - Men's, Women's and Mixed options available.

About the Club: Another university based Ultimate Club, Murdoch sends representative teams to the Australian University Games (AUG). AUGs is nationwide competition between universities. Only enrolled students may participate. Whilst the club is focused predominantly on current Murdoch students, the other events that they send teams to are open to past alumni and the general community.

Perth Ultimate Club

About the Club: PUC is a mixed club that welcomes players of all skill levels. Although affiliated with the WAFDA, the PUC does not currently operate.

Primal Ultimate Club

Location: Yokine, WA 6060

Club Type: Youth Club, also open to women and men.

Peak Competition/s: Various Perth Tournaments, Yokine Social League (host), Youth Ultimate Academy (host)

About the Club: Previously known as PRIMAL Women’s Ultimate Club (2007) we have grown from a social group to a fully Incorporated Club receiving funding and hosting several events. In September 2009 PRIMAL changed its  name to PRIMAL Ultimate Club to reflect the growth and new direction of the Club, being inclusive of youth, males and females. Over the past four years, PRIMAL has participated in past Australian Ultimate Championships as well as WA mixed and separate gender State Titles. The club now boasts the home to a Youth Ultimate Academy on Monday evenings which includes players from 13-18 years of age. Primal also hosts an annual summer league – Yokine Ultimate League, based at Yokine Reserve in the City of Stirling.
The league started in 2009 and has made it possible for the local community to learn about and join in games of Ultimate. The league runs all summer and its a great way to socialise while getting some physical activity into your day.

Sisko Ultimate Club

About the Club: Sisko Ultimate Club was founded in 2016 on the core values of fun, supportiveness, trustworthiness, competitiveness, inclusivity, and player growth. Since then, Sisko has represented Western Australia in both Division 1 and 2 at the Australian Ultimate Championships as well as the Sydney Melbourne Open. Sisko aims to provide a safe, welcoming and inspiring Ultimate environment for all players in Western Australia fostering the growth, support and competitiveness of Ultimate whilst upholding the spirit of the game.

Sublime Ultimate Club

About the Club: Founded in 2004, Sublime Ultimate Club is the premier WA Men's Ultimate Club, Sublime Ultimate club represent WA at the Division One and Division Two Australian Ultimate Championships (AUC) held in April annually. They have competed at every AUC since 2004. Their mission is, To provide a supportive platform for growth, spirit and competition while continuing to invest in the ultimate community.

UWA Ultimate Club

Location: University of Western Australia - Crawley Campus

Club Type: University club - Men's, Women's and Mixed options available.

Competition/s: Australian University Games, 1 International Tournament per year, Various Perth Tournaments, UWA Social League (host)

About the Club: As WA's longest running university based Ultimate Club, UWA has seen continued growth and expansion since its establishment. Whilst the club is focused predominantly on current UWA students, our social league and some representative teams are open to past alumni and the general community.

 

Social League

UWA runs a social mixed gender league on Monday nights open to the whole community. This is held at UWA and runs in two seasons reflecting the UWA Semester (Approx. March - June and August - November).

 

Australian University Games Teams (AUGs) - Open & Womens

UWA Ultimate has sent representative teams to every Australian University Games since 2006. AUGs is nationwide competition between universities therefore only enrolled students may participate. Tryouts and training for these teams begin in late May / early June in the lead up to the competition in September.

 

Development Team

A development team is also selected at the same time as the AUGs teams. This team typically trains from June through to November before attending an international competition in Asia (past locations include Singapore, Brunei & Malaysia).

Bunbury Ultimate Club

About the Club: Bunbury is a mixed club that welcomes players of all skill levels. Bunbury host a 'Winter Mini League' which is open to the whole community. Bunbury Ultimate attend the Phoenix has Risen (the WA Mixed State Championships) every year. Broome also host an annual tournament, Moove'n the Groove.

Esperance Ultimate Club

Location: Esperance, WA 6450

Club Type: Mixed club, players 15 years and over. Players 11-14 years can also join, however must be accompanied by a participating parent or guardian.

Peak Competition/s: Skylab Classic (host), WA Mixed Ultimate Championships 'Phoenix has Risen', Esperance Ultimate League, Groove in the Moove.

About the Club:
Esperance Ultimate was established in 2012 and became an Incorporated Club in 2015. The Club operates between October to April, hosting two 10 week seasons between October to December and February to April. Each season includes a four week mini league and concludes with a free BBQ wind-up. The club meets at the Greater Sports Ground (corner Jane St. and Brazier St.) from 6-8pm every Wednesday nights. During the month of January we host Beach Ultimate at West Beach from 5:30pm till dusk. Our two day Annual event is held at the end our playing season dubbed the Skylab Classic. The event promotes all flying disc sports and hosts the WA State KanJam Championship, The Johnstone Invitational Disc Golf Course and Esperance Ultimate Hat Tournament. The club is very inclusive and often takes part in the developing youth through school and holiday programs. The club is receives funding for equipment, skills clinic and coaching accreditation. The Club has thus far participated twice at WA Mixed State Championship and Bunbury's Moovin the Groove Competition returning home with the Spirit Award on three occasions. In December 2016, Esperance was the first Regional Club to be awarded with "Club of the Year" Certificate by WA Ultimate.

Kununurra Ultimate Club

Location: Kununurra, WA

About the Club: Kununurra Ultimate is a mixed club that welcomes players of all skill levels. They offer a come-and-play league during the winter months. Although affiliated with the WAFDA, the Kunnunurra Ultimate Club does not currently operate.
