Awards

The WAFDA Awards recognise those who have contributed significantly to to growth and development of WA Flying Disc Sports.  The focus is for both on-field and off-field efforts, and for those people who put in so much effort behind the scenes.

The awards are generally presented at the end-of-year function.  Nominations for all awards are usually called several weeks before the presentation.  Award nominations can be submitted by email indicating the category and nominee, and a description of achievements that address the relevant award criteria or via our online voting forms.

Outstanding Service Award

  • Dedicated to grassroots development
  • Perth Ultimate League team leadership
  • Fosters ‘Spirit of the Game’
  • Welcomes and teaches new comers
  • Commitment to increasing participation
  • One-on-one approach and enthusiasm
  • Helped new players to learn
  • Carried out a task or project for the good of the sport
 

Club of the Year

  • Growth and development of the Club as a whole
  • Strong governance and committee structure
  • Recruitment strategies
  • Up-to-date Website
  • Promotion of Ultimate to the wider community
  • Provides and supports various levels of Ultimate for members
  • Consistent participation in WA Ultimate events (tournaments and leagues)
  • Most likely Incorporated in their own right

Coach of the Year

  • Effort put in
  • Enthusiasm, approach
  • Respected by players
  • How much individual players learned/improved
  • Sought further coach education and development opportunities
  • On-field success/improvement
  • Actively coaching in wider community
  • Provided mentoring or coaching opportunities to others
 

Tournament of the Year

  • Well organised
  • Everyone had a good time

  • Good field facilities, like water, toilets, change-rooms, spectator areas

Administrator of the Year

Team of the Year

  • Growth and improvement of the team as a whole
  • Development of individual players
  • Players enjoyed being on the team

  • Spirit shown on the field
  • Representation in WA leagues and tournaments
  • Unlikely Incorporated in their own right

Player of the Year Award

  • Awarded to 1 Male and 1 Female player
  • Must have participated in a WA League since 01 July 2015
  • Played at WA Regional Qualifier Tournament Level or above since 01 July 2015
  • Fosters ‘Spirit of the Game’
  • Age has no influence on this award
  • Include any interstate or international tournament experience and achievements
 

Rookie of the Year Award

  • Awarded to 1 Male and 1 Female player
  • Has commenced playing Ultimate at an recognised WA Ultimate League or Tournament since 01 July 2015
  • Shows willingness to learn the all aspects of the game
  • Fosters ‘Spirit of the Game’
  • Age has no influence on this award

 Female Youth Player of the Year

  • Awarded to one (1) Female player
  • Is a current member
  • Fosters ‘Spirit of the Game’
  • Is under the age of 19 as 01/10/2016
  • Excelled at the high level for their age group
  • Demonstrates good leaderships skills (on and off the pitch)
  • Include any interstate or international tournament experience and achievements
   Male Youth Player of the Year
  • Awarded to one (1) Male player
  • Is a current member
  • Fosters ‘Spirit of the Game’
  • Is under the age of 19 as 01/10/2016
  • Excelled at the high level for their age group
  • Demonstrates good leaderships skills (on and off the pitch)
  • Include any interstate or international tournament experience and achievements
