WAFDA Special General Meeting - Constitution

The WA Flying Disc Association is calling a Special General Meeting (SGM) with the main purpose to vote on the Association's new constitution.

The location will be the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, at 246 Vincent St, Leederville WA 6007. Virtual meeting functionality will be available.

Wednesday 3rd July 2019- 6:30PM - 8:30PM

All members are welcome.

 Date of Notice: 26/06/2019

The WA Flying Disc Assocation (WAFDA) needs to update it's constitution due to the introduction of the Associations Incorporation Act 2015. The new Draft Constitution meets the requirements set out in the Act and the Executive believe it sets up the WA Flying Disc Association (WAFDA) to perform well into the future.

The Executive Committee are hoping many within our Association's membership will read the draft constitution and take part in the voting process.

All comments are welcomed and can be sent to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . The comments will be responded to by the Executive Committee and the responses will be circulated prior to the meeting. Discussion on the constitution and feedback will occur at the SGM. Comments will be received up to the end of Monday, 1st July 2019.

A track changed version of the old constitution is linked, along with an accompanying summary of changes.

The main change is around who is defined as a member of the association. Due to the requirements in the new rules for WAFDA to maintain a list of all members, the Executive Committee decided that it was easier to limit our membership to those who play in an associated competition or are members of an affiliated club, or anyone who wishes to apply. This will mean that players who only play socially at University social competitions or pickup games through clubs such as Perth Ultimate Club will not automatically be members of WAFDA under the new rules, unless they make an application.

As most members currently play in associated competitions or are members of affiliated clubs, the Executive Committee does not foresee this change causing any significant changes in the composition of WAFDA's membership base.

Following a vote on the draft constitution, general business will also be discussed, including Phoenix Has Risen and other WAFDA events planning, and updates on the financial and grants situation of WAFDA.  If time permits, a general meeting will be held where other business can be discussed after the special general meeting.

Please advise the committee through emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  if you wish to attend this Special General Meeting. If you are in a regional area and wish to attend virtual meeting functionality is available.

Apologies for the confusion and multiple calls for this meeting and thanks to those who provided feedback on the previous calling of the SGM for picking up on the constitutional inconsistencies.
